Our verdict

The B860 Tomahawk answers the question most Core Ultra builders should actually ask: why pay for Z890 if you will never overclock? You keep the Gen5 GPU slot and M.2, Wi-Fi 7, 5GbE and Thunderbolt 4, and give up CPU overclocking the chipset never allowed anyway. Tom's Hardware called it 'a more affordable Z890 alternative' - that is the whole pitch.

Best for: Sensible Core Ultra builds that were never going to overclock the CPU.

Skip it if: You want CPU overclocking or heavy rear-I/O modernity - four of the rear ports are USB 2.0.
